Amber-gold and richly aromatic — dried apricot, cedar shavings, incense and dusty pressed flowers. On the palate it's silky and enveloping, with exotic spice and a vein of salty mineral depth that anchors the sweetness beautifully. The finish is dramatically long, stained with crushed hazelnuts, dried orange peel and a gentle warmth of alcohol that lingers and heightens rather than overwhelms. A compelling case for Marsala as a serious wine.

Marco de Bartoli

Marco de Bartoli rescued Marsala from irrelevance, producing benchmark Vecchio Samperi alongside some of Sicily's most precise dry whites from Grillo and Zibibbo.
