Bernhard Ott Rheinriesling 2014

Crunchy apple and honeydew lead, edged with a pleasant bitterness of rind and a savory, root-vegetable earthiness more typical of Grüner Veltliner than Riesling, a curious and intriguing quality from this Wagram estate. The finish is sappy and extended, closing with a tangy nudge of pineapple core. Harvested on the first day of picking at Ott, this needs another year to knit together fully. Return to it then for a proper assessment.
