Marcel Lapierre Morgon N 2013

Morgon, France

Bright, focused, and beautifully pure. Black raspberry, violet, and smoky minerals lead, with blood orange surfacing slowly as the wine breathes. Supple tannins arrive late, underscoring the wine's clarity rather than interrupting it. The no-sulfur designation brings real luminosity in the near term, though in my experience the 'S' bottling holds up better with extended cellaring — and if aging is the goal, that's the one to reach for.
