Cherry and blackcurrant meet licorice and dried roses, the French oak (half new) lending smoke and vanilla depth. Sappy concentration on the palate, with floral pastille sweetness cutting through bitter chocolate. Fine, dusty tannins build steadily, gripping but ripe. Needs cellar time to soften - give it seven years minimum.
