Oddero Barbaresco Gallina 2010

Strawberry preserves, dried rose petal, brown spice and a touch of mint and forest floor on the nose, there's a candied lift that gives this Gallina a slightly sweet-boned charm. In the mouth it's medium-weight and fine-grained, the strawberry quality carrying through with good freshness and modest concentration. The structure is present but undemanding: lightly drying tannins frame the mid-palate, and the wine tapers toward the finish with a pleasing floral echo. Honest, pretty Barbaresco with no pretension to greatness.
