Deep ruby with real depth of color. Cherry liqueur, pipe tobacco and mocha on the nose, a thread of smoky mineral keeping it honest. Black raspberry and cherry-vanilla drive the palate, with spice cake, floral pastille and bitter chocolate building steadily underneath. Sixteen months in large oak vats and three years in French oak have left no rough edges, tannins are fine-grained and supple, the finish long and warmly integrated. Drinking well now through 2032 and beyond.
