Artadi Pagos Viejos 2010

Black cherry, smoked spice, vanilla oak and pipe tobacco, the nose on this 2010 Pagos Viejos is dense and inviting, built from Artadi's old Tempranillo vines at full stretch. Richly textured on the palate, with cherry-cola, black raspberry and a spiced, almost cake-like depth, yet a firm seam of acidity keeps the weight in check. Tannins are supple and well-integrated, the body full but not overblown. The finish holds its line with real persistence. Drinking well now and no rush to hurry it along.
