Dark and brooding on the nose — medicinal cherry, espresso, dried strawberry and spicy oak, all in a lower register than the Rocche. On the palate it's austere and dry, almost stern, with a liqueur-like density that never softens into sweetness. The tannins are grippy and unyielding, the kind that demand time rather than request it. Firmly shut today; put it away for at least six or seven years and revisit.
