Strawberry, raspberry and dried flowers with brown spice and a lifted oak note on the nose, fragrant and inviting. Rocche di Castiglione brings a clear step up in intensity and precision over the standard bottling: red plum, redcurrant and a streak of smoky minerality fill the mid-palate with real depth. Juicy and well-proportioned rather than outsized, the wine closes on fine-grained, oak-driven tannins that still need time to fully integrate. Give it three to four years.
