Black cherry, cola, Indian spice and wood smoke on the nose, with a floral thread lifting it out of the dark. Full-bodied and concentrated on the palate, yet there's a tautness here that keeps the fruit from sprawling, impressive for a wine of this weight. The tannins are smooth and thoroughly absorbed, sweet spice trailing long into the finish. A 75/15/10 blend of tempranillo, mazuelo and graciano, aged in large wooden vats before 18 months in new French oak, the structure is present and accounted for, but it serves the wine rather than defining it.
