Oddero Barolo Villero 2008

The finest of Oddero's four 2008 Baroli, and it shows. Dried rose, clove, dark cherry and iron-tinged earth on a spiced, inviting nose. Mid-weight on the palate with serious tannic muscle underneath, dense and grip-heavy, but kept in check by good structural balance. Floral and spice notes resurface on the finish, providing a welcome lift that keeps the wine from feeling heavy-handed. Drink 2018–2030.
