Muga Reserva Unfiltered 2008

Dark cherry, cola, vanilla and cocoa on the nose, with a violet note that opens up slowly with air. Sweet fruit carries through on the palate, ripe cherry and liquorice, alongside rose pastille and a bitter chocolate edge on the finish. The tannins are fine-grained and polished, giving the wine gentle grip without weight. Worth knowing the backstory: 2008 was the only vintage where Muga bottled a single red, meaning all the Prado Enea fruit was absorbed into the Reserva blend, 70% tempranillo, 20% garnacha, 7% mazuelo, 3% graciano, aged 24 months in oak. That folded-in richness is evident. Generous and warm, with a finish that lingers well past the last sip.
