Renato Ratti Barolo Rocche 2007

Dark cherry, mocha, menthol and warm spice pour from the glass with serious intent. This is a large-scaled Rocche, concentrated and expansive, with silky tannins that carry the wine through a broad, sweeping finish. The mid-palate intensity drops off just a fraction on the close, though that slight tightening may simply reflect youth rather than any structural shortcoming. If the finish fills out with time, this could merit an even stronger assessment. Drink 2015–2032.
