Brighter and more lifted on the nose than the Marcenasco, blackberry, licorice, graphite and mint with sweet oak woven through. Big and expansive on the palate, the wine coats generously with that high alcohol (15%+) pushing menthol and eucalyptus notes to the fore. It reads a touch monolithic right now, the mass not yet resolved into anything more nuanced. But the finishing breadth is substantial, the tannins ripe and firm, and there's enough underlying acidity to suggest this will find its shape with time. Give it years.
