Dark and brooding from the first pour. Scorched earth, licorice, smoked leather and dark cherry fill the glass with serious concentration, backed by a menthol-tinged mineral streak. The tannins are imposing, dense and tightly-knit, demanding time to resolve. With air, that signature Giacosa dried rose petal begins to surface, lifting the wine and hinting at the elegance underneath all that structure. Le Rocche del Falletto in 2007 is a powerhouse built for the long haul. Drink 2025–2045.
