Travaglini Gattinara Tre Vigne 2006

Fuller and darker than Travaglini's standard Gattinara, the Tre Vigne has plenty of weight and ripe, juicy fruit, but that richness comes at a cost. The oak sits heavily over the wine, muting the earthy, floral character that makes Nebbiolo from this corner of Piedmont worth seeking out. There's material here, but the winemaking obscures more than it reveals.
