Deep ruby, and the nose draws you in immediately — dried cherry, redcurrant, rose oil, pipe tobacco and leather, all clearly defined and inviting. Floral red fruit sits at the core of the palate, with a pastille-like sweetness and a thread of black pepper running beneath it. A year in large oak vats and three years in used American barrels have given it backbone without burying the fruit — the structure feels earned rather than imposed. The finish is firm, still youthful, with fine spice that lingers. Decant generously now, or hold.
