Travaglini Gattinara Riserva 2005

Denser and more concentrated than the standard bottling, this Gattinara Riserva opens with incense, tar, dried wild cherry and dried herbs, the full Nebbiolo repertoire in northern Piedmont form. Tannins are firm and grippy, still exerting their authority across the mid-palate, with the fruit sitting just beneath the surface waiting for more time. Give it another three to four years and both should find equilibrium. Drink 2012–2025.
