La Rioja Alta 904 Gran Reserva 2004

Old-school Rioja, executed with conviction. Dried cherry, rose petal, smoked meat and warm vanilla on the nose, with a spice thread that unfolds gradually in the glass. On the palate, sappy and generous, with red fruit pastille, a floral lift and that vanilla undercurrent running all the way to the finish. The tannins are supple and almost undetectable, having softened beautifully over two decades. A 90% Tempranillo, 10% Graciano blend that has aged with quiet authority and has more to give.
