La Rioja Alta Marques de Haro Reserva 2001

Dark red with an aromatic nose of black pepper, dried flowers, mineral earth and spicy oak. Ripe and concentrated on the tongue — strawberry, leather and a trace of coconut from the wood — held together by firm acidity and a dry, structured backbone. The oak tannins haven't yet settled in; the finish carries a slightly angular edge that needs time to smooth out. Set it aside for a few more years.
