Artadi Vina El Pison 2000

Raspberry, dried violet and mocha lead on the nose, shot through with the chalky mineral lift that is the signature of El Pisón's 1945-planted limestone vines. Rich and generous in the mouth — there's real opulence here — but the wine holds its shape, anchored by a firm mineral backbone that keeps the fruit honest. The demi-muid and 300-litre barrels have done their work quietly; the oak is absorbed, adding texture rather than flavour. Long, composed finish with an unexpected freshness cutting through the weight. Drinking beautifully now and showing every sign of holding.
