Vega Sicilia Unico 1998

Dried cherry, cured meat, iron and pressed violet, the 1998 Unico opens with that unmistakable savory depth, edging toward the complexity of a great Haut-Brion vintage. Cassis and dark cherry fill the mid-palate, concentrated yet effortlessly buoyant, the kind of equilibrium that defines this wine above all else. Candied florals, smoky minerals and vanilla sustain a finish that lingers long after the glass is empty. Drinking beautifully now, but built to hold comfortably through 2030 and well beyond.
