History
Aubert bought the twelve-acre former apple orchard in 2013 from the family of a neighbour who had died, and planted the Chardonnay in 2016. The early Pinot Noir harvests were declassified into blends; 2023 was the first vintage bottled under the Park Avenue name. That debut Chardonnay was awarded a hundred points by Wine Advocate.
The Site
Twelve acres in the cold pocket Aubert calls the coolest of the Pinot Noir vineyards it farms, with an iron-rich ancient seabed subsoil beneath the Pinot Noir.
Vines and Blocks
Chardonnay planted in 2016, chiefly the Hyde selection of Old Wente with a small amount of Montrachet clone, on 101-14 and 420A rootstocks. The Pinot Noir is entirely Calera selection.
The Wines
Aubert is the sole producer. Park Avenue is the newest name in the range and, on the evidence of the 2023, not the least of it.
