History
Rick DuNah planted the original eight acres of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay in 1998. David Gensler bought the vineyard and its neighboring property in 2013, added two more acres of Pinot, and gave the site its French name for his four daughters. Kanzler, Cobb, VML, Alquimista and Tamber Bey have all bottled its fruit.
The Site
The vines crown a 500 foot hill on Blucher Valley Road among the most southwesterly plantings of the Sebastopol Hills, less than two miles from the Kanzler estate, fully exposed to the wind and fog streaming through the Petaluma Gap. Steep slopes keep the Goldridge fine sandy loam quick-draining and the crop naturally small.
Vines and Blocks
Pinot Noir leads across the 1998 and 2013 plantings, with Chardonnay that Cobb bottles as its own designation.
The Wines
Mes Filles fruit yields cool-toned, structured Pinot Noir and taut Chardonnay, gap-chilled wines that read closer to the coast than the town of Sebastopol a few minutes north.
