History
DuMOL bought its first estate parcel off Occidental Road in 2004 after years built on purchased fruit, and the holding has grown to thirty acres across four contiguous parcels: the DuMOL Estate, Bressay, Kearney and MacIntyre vineyards. MacIntyre, a former apple orchard, was planted in 2016 with Swan and Calera selections propagated from the neighboring estate vines.
The Site
The parcel sits at 250 feet in a cool pocket of Green Valley near Occidental, low, breezy and deep in the fog track, on classic Goldridge sand capped with an extremely fine, low-clay topsoil that holds almost no water. The vines are farmed organically and grown without irrigation.
Vines and Blocks
Mostly high-density Pinot Noir from Calera, Swan and 943 selections propagated from the estate's own vines, with some Mencía and Chenin Blanc.
The Wines
DuMOL's MacIntyre Estate Pinot Noir, a members release since the 2020 vintage, shows the moondust signature: aromatic lift, red fruit and a fine, dry-grown tension distinct from its richer estate siblings.
