Sea View Ridge

Sea View Ridge is the second Flowers estate, a mosaic of small blocks across steep ridgetop terrain, on its own ridge higher than and closer to the ocean than Camp Meeting Ridge.

History

Flowers began planting Sea View Ridge in 1998, on Flowers Ranch, a property adjoining its original Camp Meeting Ridge estate.

The Site

About 42 planted acres scatter across numerous small blocks on the ridge system, at elevations from roughly 1,400 feet to the crest near 1,875 feet. The blocks sit above the fog line on thin ridge soils, fully exposed to Pacific wind.

Vines and Blocks

Pinot Noir leads, joined by a rare coastal planting of Pinot Meunier. The highest block on the northern crest is farmed as Cielo, the sky block, the most wind-whipped ground on the property.

The Wines

Sea View Ridge bottlings are the leaner, more nervous siblings of Camp Meeting Ridge: bright, floral, structured by wind-thickened skins and long cold seasons.
