Fort Ross Seaview

Elliott Vineyard

A separately bottled Fort Ross-Seaview site farmed by the Hellenthal family, and regularly mistaken for a block of their own vineyard.

History

The Hellenthal family farms Elliott alongside their own vineyard on the ridge north of Cazadero. Ceritas bottles it as a monopole under its own name. Study material often folds Elliott into Hellenthal as a pair of numbered blocks; the producer treats them as two distinct vineyards, and the labels follow the producer.

The Site

Ridge ground in the Fort Ross-Seaview AVA, on the decomposed sandstone that characterises the corridor, high enough to sit above the fog for much of the season.

Vines and Blocks

Pinot Noir, farmed by the same hands as the neighbouring Hellenthal planting but kept separate through the cellar.

The Wines

Ceritas's Elliott bottling is the site's only wine, made in the same cool, transparent style as the rest of that portfolio.
