Overview

Steinacker is the name of 3 separate mapped vineyard sites within Rheinhessen. The name is shared; the sites are distinct, with their own communes, exposures, and owners.

The Steinacker sites in Rheinhessen

Heidesheim am Rhein (Bingen), Grosslage Kaiserpfalz, VDP Grosse Lage, approximately 88 hectares
Ingelheim am Rhein (Bingen), Grosslage Kaiserpfalz, VDP Grosse Lage, approximately 51 hectares
Nieder-Hilbersheim (Bingen), Grosslage Abtey, VDP Grosse Lage, approximately 117 hectares

What to Know

A label reading Steinacker identifies the specific site through the village name that accompanies it (as in Nieder-Hilbersheimer Steinacker); the village, not the shared vineyard name, tells you which site is in the bottle. Beyond Rheinhessen, the name also appears in Pfalz, Carnuntum, Leithaberg.
