Rémi Jobard

History

Rémi Jobard represents a younger generation of the Jobard family, one of Meursault's most respected winemaking lineages. The family has farmed in the village for several generations, with the Jobard name long associated with serious, age-worthy whites from the Côte de Beaune. Rémi established his own domaine separately from the family's other operations, building a small but focused estate around village-level Meursault and a handful of premier cru sites. His approach has drawn increasing attention since the mid-2000s, and the domaine is now considered a reliable reference point for the appellation, particularly among those who find the richer, more opulent style of some Meursault producers less compelling.

Vineyards

The domaine's holdings are centered on Meursault, with parcels spread across several named village-level lieux-dits and premier cru sites including Les Genevrières, Charmes, and Poruzots. Les Chevalières and En Larule are among the village-level sites represented. Vines vary in age across the holdings, with older parcels contributing to the Vieilles Vignes cuvée at the broader Bourgogne Côte d'Or level. The soils throughout Meursault are predominantly limestone-clay, with variations in stone content and drainage that shift character between sites. Specific farming certifications for the domaine are not publicly documented in detail, though the estate is generally associated with careful, low-intervention viticulture in line with what has become common practice among quality-focused Meursault producers.

Winemaking

Jobard's cellar work is oriented toward preserving freshness and vineyard character rather than building texture through winemaking intervention. Fermentation takes place in barrel, and the wines spend a standard period on lees before bottling, typically around twelve months for village wines and somewhat longer for premiers crus. Oak use is restrained, with a relatively modest proportion of new wood even at the premier cru level, which helps keep the wine's profile lean and site-specific rather than dominated by barrel influence. The resulting wines tend to be tighter and more mineral in their youth than many Meursault peers, often rewarding patience. Poruzots and Genevrières in particular show well with several years of bottle age.
