Antoine Jobard

MeursaultFrance

Antoine Jobard is a small, highly regarded Meursault domaine producing precise, age-worthy whites from a range of premier cru sites across the Côte de Beaune, with a reputation for restraint and mineral clarity over opulence.

### History Antoine Jobard represents one of the quieter, more deliberate presences in Meursault, a village that generates more than its share of celebrated names. The domaine descends from the Jobard family, a lineage with deep roots in the appellation. François Jobard, Antoine's father, built a strong reputation over several decades for understated, long-lived whites that ran against the richer, more immediately gratifying style fashionable in Meursault during the 1980s and 1990s. Antoine took over progressive responsibility for winemaking in the early 2000s and has continued in the same disciplined direction, refining rather than redirecting what his father established. The domaine remains small and family-run, with no dramatic reinvention or high-profile expansion marking its recent history.

### Vineyards The holdings are concentrated in Meursault, with premier cru parcels in Genevrières, Charmes, Poruzots, and Blagny, sites that collectively span the cooler upper slopes through the richer mid-slope zones. The range also extends to Puligny-Montrachet, with a parcel in the village-level lieu-dit Le Trezin, and reaches south to Saint-Aubin and across to Beaune, suggesting a modest but thoughtfully assembled portfolio rather than a single-appellation focus. Meursault's limestone-clay soils vary meaningfully across these sites: Genevrières tends toward a chalky, mineral structure; Charmes is fuller and more textural; Poruzots sits higher and delivers more tension. Specific farming certifications for the domaine are not publicly documented in detail, though the approach is generally described as careful and low-intervention in the vineyard.

### Winemaking The Jobard style is defined by restraint. Fermentation takes place in oak barrels, with a proportion of new oak that is conservative by Côte de Beaune standards, keeping wood influence in a supporting role. Extended aging on the lees is central to the approach, building texture and complexity without relying on new oak for weight. The wines are not made for early drinking: they tend to close down in the short term and reward patience. Reductive handling during élevage contributes to the mineral, tightly wound character the domaine is known for. Filtration and fining practices are minimal. Across the range, from the village Meursault through the premier crus, the house style prioritizes precision and length over immediate generosity.
