A commanding blend where cassis nobility meets earth-bound sophistication with breathtaking precision.

The 2020 Opus One opens with an almost architectural precision on the noseโ€”cassis liqueur intertwined with graphite minerality and cedar shavings from new French oak. On the palate, the wine displays remarkable density without heaviness, where dark cherry compote and espresso bean concentrate create a luxurious mid-palate foundation. The tannin structure feels like velvet-wrapped steel, providing backbone while allowing tobacco leaf and worn leather nuances to emerge gradually. Petit Verdot and Malbec contribute spice and color intensity, while Merlot softens the Cabernet Sauvignon's edges beautifully. The finish extends for nearly a minute, revealing vanilla custard and dark chocolate notes. This vintage will peak around 2028-2035, though it drinks magnificently now with proper decanting.
